Comment la recherche peut-elle s’orienter pour contribuer de mani\u00e8re cibl\u00e9e au d\u00e9veloppement de la g\u00e9othermie en Suisse ? Un atelier sur la g\u00e9othermie organis\u00e9 par l’Office f\u00e9d\u00e9ral de l’\u00e9nergie s’est tenu en septembre autour de cette th\u00e9matique. <\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Pr\u00e8s de 80 participants issus de la recherche, de l\u2019industrie et des autorit\u00e9s publiques a r\u00e9uni la deuxi\u00e8me \u00e9dition du workshop consacr\u00e9 \u00e0 la g\u00e9othermie organis\u00e9 par l\u2019OFEN (Office f\u00e9d\u00e9ral de l’\u00e9nergie) en septembre. Au cours de cet atelier, trois th\u00e8mes principaux ont \u00e9t\u00e9 abord\u00e9s : l\u2019exploration du sous-sol, le stockage de chaleur dans le sous-sol et les syst\u00e8mes g\u00e9othermiques de nouvelle g\u00e9n\u00e9ration.<\/p>\n

L\u2019exploration du sous-sol<\/strong><\/p>\n

La premi\u00e8re partie de la journ\u00e9e \u00e9tait consacr\u00e9e \u00e0 l\u2019exploration en g\u00e9othermie et aux \u00e9volutions depuis la premi\u00e8re \u00e9dition du workshop en 2024, qui \u00e9tait alors enti\u00e8rement d\u00e9di\u00e9e \u00e0 cette th\u00e9matique. Swisstopo a d\u00e9taill\u00e9 l\u2019ensemble du processus de gestion des donn\u00e9es g\u00e9othermiques issues des projets d\u2019exploration soutenus par la Conf\u00e9d\u00e9ration, de leur collecte \u00e0 leur publication, en passant par le contr\u00f4le qualit\u00e9 (QC).<\/p>\n

Au cours de l’atelier, il a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9montr\u00e9 que les nouvelles m\u00e9thodes peuvent am\u00e9liorer l\u2019exploration g\u00e9othermique, mais qu\u2019il n\u2019existe pas de solution unique capable de r\u00e9pondre \u00e0 tous les besoins. Les m\u00e9thodes innovantes sont particuli\u00e8rement utiles lorsqu\u2019elles compl\u00e8tent les approches plus traditionnelles, ce qui permet d\u2019obtenir une repr\u00e9sentation plus solide du sous-sol. De m\u00eame, l\u2019intelligence artificielle offre de nouvelles possibilit\u00e9s pour analyser de grandes quantit\u00e9s de donn\u00e9es, mais elle ne remplace pas l\u2019expertise humaine n\u00e9cessaire pour interpr\u00e9ter les r\u00e9sultats et construire une image fiable du sous-sol.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Stocker la chaleur dans le sous-sol<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Le deuxi\u00e8me volet s\u2019est int\u00e9ress\u00e9 au stockage thermique dans le sous-sol et \u00e0 son potentiel pour apporter davantage de flexibilit\u00e9 au syst\u00e8me \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique. La perspective strat\u00e9gique et r\u00e9glementaire de l\u2019OFEN a \u00e9t\u00e9 compl\u00e9t\u00e9e par plusieurs retours d\u2019exp\u00e9rience de projets pilotes, comme le stockage thermique dans un aquif\u00e8re quaternaire \u00e0 l\u2019a\u00e9roport de Zurich et le projet visant \u00e0 stocker de mani\u00e8re saisonni\u00e8re la chaleur r\u00e9siduelle dans le sous-sol de la centrale \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique de Forsthaus (BE), qui a notamment permis d\u2019explorer diff\u00e9rentes approches pour augmenter la transmissivit\u00e9 du r\u00e9servoir. Des enseignements pratiques sur le suivi environnemental des eaux souterraines d\u2019un syst\u00e8me de stockage \u00e0 haute temp\u00e9rature dans un champ de sondes g\u00e9othermiques sur le campus Empa-Eawag ont \u00e9galement \u00e9t\u00e9 pr\u00e9sent\u00e9s. Enfin, l\u2019observatoire de temp\u00e9rature des aquif\u00e8res \u00e0 Sion a permis d\u2019aborder les m\u00e9thodes de caract\u00e9risation et de suivi de l\u2019\u00e9volution thermique d\u2019un aquif\u00e8re \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9chelle r\u00e9gionale, ainsi que les aspects pratiques li\u00e9s \u00e0 la mesure des effets de l\u2019exploitation thermique des eaux souterraines<\/p>\n

Des syst\u00e8mes g\u00e9othermiques de nouvelle g\u00e9n\u00e9ration<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Pour la derni\u00e8re partie du workshop, un aper\u00e7u de plusieurs approches de d\u00e9veloppement des syst\u00e8mes g\u00e9othermiques de nouvelle g\u00e9n\u00e9ration (next-gen technologies) a \u00e9t\u00e9 donn\u00e9. Ont notamment \u00e9t\u00e9 pr\u00e9sent\u00e9s les syst\u00e8mes AGS (Advanced Geothermal Systems) modulaires en boucle ferm\u00e9e, avec la technologie d\u00e9velopp\u00e9e par EAPOSYS ainsi que le projet AgenS dans le foss\u00e9 rh\u00e9nan sup\u00e9rieur qui repose sur le d\u00e9veloppement de multilat\u00e9raux \u00e0 partir d\u2019un forage vertical afin de r\u00e9duire le risque sismique. La r\u00e9duction du risque sismique est aussi au c\u0153ur des travaux innovants associ\u00e9s \u00e0 la technologie EGS (Enhanced Geothermal System) comme l\u2019ont illustr\u00e9 le projet de Haute-Sorne (JU), ainsi que les recherches du projet InEarth pour mieux comprendre la sismicit\u00e9 induite par les injections de fluide lors de stimulation hydraulique.<\/p>\n

En fin de compte, il est apparu qu’une\u00a0collaboration \u00e9troite entre la recherche, l\u2019industrie et les autorit\u00e9s reste indispensable. Le partage des donn\u00e9es et des connaissances sera \u00e9galement un facteur cl\u00e9 de r\u00e9ussite.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
