A Lavey, \u00e0 la fronti\u00e8re entre les cantons de Vaud et du Valais, la premi\u00e8re \u00e9lectricit\u00e9 g\u00e9othermique de Suisse devrait \u00eatre produite \u00e0 partir de 2023. Les travaux de forage en cours vont s’achever fin ao\u00fbt. Jean-Fran\u00e7ois Pilet, directeur d’AGEPP, explique dans cette interview pourquoi cela ne va pas de soi. <\/strong>Il explique, quels d\u00e9fis le porteur de projet a d\u00fb relever et pourquoi il dort bien la nuit malgr\u00e9 tout.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Jean-Fran\u00e7ois Pilet, \u00eates-vous satisfait de l’\u00e9tat actuel des travaux?<\/strong>
\nNous sommes en retard sur les travaux de forage et nous avons travers\u00e9 des phases difficiles, mais nous sommes malgr\u00e9 tout sur la bonne voie. A la mi-juin, nous avons atteint une profondeur de forage de 2\u2019000 m\u00e8tres et nous pourrons terminer les travaux de forage vers la fin ao\u00fbt.<\/p>\n

Quelles sont les difficult\u00e9s que vous avez rencontr\u00e9es?<\/strong>
\nSur les 600 premiers m\u00e8tres, nous avons progress\u00e9 tr\u00e8s lentement dans le gneiss dur avec le grand diam\u00e8tre de forage – environ un m\u00e8tre par heure, soit deux fois moins vite que pr\u00e9vu. Les t\u00eates de forage se sont donc us\u00e9es plus rapidement. Plus bas, en revanche, nous avons pu atteindre notre objectif de vitesse avec un diam\u00e8tre de forage plus petit. De plus, lors d’un incident, nous avons d\u00fb arr\u00eater les travaux de forage pendant dix jours et la partie inf\u00e9rieure du trou a commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 s’effondrer. Avant de pouvoir reprendre les travaux de forage, nous avons d\u00fb stabiliser l’ensemble du syst\u00e8me. Et nous avons d\u00fb renoncer \u00e0 une partie des mesures de diagraphies pr\u00e9vues \u00e0 une profondeur d’environ 1’800 m\u00e8tres.<\/p>\n

Avec quelles cons\u00e9quences?<\/strong>
\nNous avons certes pu mesurer la temp\u00e9rature \u00e0 cette profondeur \u2013 elle est de 95\u00b0 C \u2013 mais pas le d\u00e9bit de production des fractures. Nous ne le saurons qu’une fois le forage termin\u00e9. Ces tests de production nous permettront de savoir si nous pouvons produire de l’\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 et de la chaleur dans les proportions pr\u00e9vues. Dans le meilleur des cas, nous partons d’une temp\u00e9rature de 110\u00b0 C et d’un d\u00e9bit d’environ 40 litres par seconde.<\/p>\n

Et si le d\u00e9bit est inf\u00e9rieur?<\/strong>
\nIl faudrait alors r\u00e9fl\u00e9chir \u00e0 la forme de production. Jusqu’\u00e0 pr\u00e9sent, nous pensons pouvoir produire 4,2 GWh d’\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 et 15,5 GWh de chaleur. Pour la production d’\u00e9lectricit\u00e9, l’eau chaude \u00e0 110\u00b0 C est d’abord refroidie \u00e0 70\u00b0 C, puis \u00e0 30\u00b0 C pour la production de chaleur. Si le d\u00e9bit devait \u00eatre inf\u00e9rieur \u00e0 25 litres par seconde, nous devrions renoncer \u00e0 la production d’\u00e9lectricit\u00e9, mais nous pourrions utiliser des temp\u00e9ratures de d\u00e9part beaucoup plus \u00e9lev\u00e9es pour la chaleur.<\/p>\n

Contrairement \u00e0 de nombreux projets, l’installation de Lavey n’est pas con\u00e7ue comme un doublet, mais se contente d’un seul forage qui puise l’eau en profondeur. Que fait-on de l’eau apr\u00e8s son utilisation? Vous ne pouvez probablement pas la rejeter telle quelle dans le Rh\u00f4ne?<\/strong>
\nC’est effectivement le cas. L’eau \u00e0 30 degr\u00e9s ne s’\u00e9coule pas directement dans le Rh\u00f4ne, mais dans la galerie d’amen\u00e9e de la centrale hydro\u00e9lectrique de Lavey. Le volume r\u00e9siduel restitu\u00e9 est si faible par rapport au volume d’eau dans la galerie qu’il n\u2019influence quasiment pas la temp\u00e9rature de cette eau.<\/p>\n

Si vous pensez encore une fois aux difficult\u00e9s \u00e9voqu\u00e9es pr\u00e9c\u00e9demment: Le projet dans son ensemble \u00e9tait-il menac\u00e9 \u00e0 un moment donn\u00e9?<\/strong>
\nNon, mais cela a entra\u00een\u00e9 les retards dans le calendrier et nous avons d\u00fb proc\u00e9der \u00e0 quelques adaptations du projet initial.<\/p>\n

Par exemple?<\/strong>
\nNous avons notamment d\u00fb adapter la conception du puits de forage. Au d\u00e9part, nous visions une profondeur cible de plus de 3\u2019000 m\u00e8tres et la partie productive du puits – c’est-\u00e0-dire les quelque 500 m\u00e8tres de la zone la plus basse – devait \u00eatre ouverte. Mais la roche ne le permet pas. Nous passons donc d’un \u00abtrou nu\u00bb \u00ad\u00ad\u2013 c\u2019est ainsi qu\u2019on l\u2019appelle \u2013 \u00e0 un puits avec des tubes d’acier perfor\u00e9s. Et nous atteindrons vraisemblablement une profondeur d’environ 2\u2019800 m\u00e8tres.<\/p>\n

Avez-vous eu du mal \u00e0 g\u00e9rer ces difficult\u00e9s personnellement? Avez-vous bien dormi la nuit?<\/strong>
\n(rires) Je n’ai pas perdu le sommeil pour autant. Bien s\u00fbr, en tant que directeur de l’AGEPP, il est de ma responsabilit\u00e9 envers nos partenaires de mener le projet \u00e0 bien. Mais je ne suis pas seul, loin de l\u00e0. Sur le site de forage, il y a en permanence une trentaine de personnes sur place, auxquelles s’ajoutent 50 autres personnes dans le back-office. Ce sont tous des gens tr\u00e8s comp\u00e9tents, et avec eux, nous avons pu r\u00e9soudre tous les probl\u00e8mes. Je n’ai donc jamais perdu mon optimisme.<\/p>\n

Que se passera-t-il apr\u00e8s la fin des travaux de forage en ao\u00fbt?<\/strong>
\nL’installation de forage sera d\u00e9mont\u00e9e et transport\u00e9e \u00e0 Vinzel, toujours au Canton de Vaud, o\u00f9 elle aura sa prochaine mission dans le cadre du projet Energe\u00d4 La C\u00f4te. Si les tests de production sont concluants, les travaux pour l’infrastructure n\u00e9cessaire en surface pourront commencer. Si tout se passe comme pr\u00e9vu, nous pourrons mettre l’installation en service au second semestre 2023 et produire pour la premi\u00e8re fois de l’\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 g\u00e9othermique en Suisse.<\/p>\n

Enfin, serait-on tent\u00e9 de dire… Vous avez d\u00fb surmonter de nombreux obstacles jusqu’ici. Que pouvez-vous conseiller \u00e0 d’autres porteurs de projets qui se trouvent aujourd’hui au d\u00e9but d’un projet<\/strong>
\nLe plus important d’abord: il faut une \u00e9quipe diversifi\u00e9e et multidisciplinaire et un bureau d’ing\u00e9nieurs qui dispose d’un bon r\u00e9seau, qui conna\u00eet bien les proc\u00e9dures d’autorisation et les autorit\u00e9s. Les aspects administratifs ne doivent en aucun cas \u00eatre sous-estim\u00e9s, il faut du souffle, m\u00eame si c\u2019est certainement un peu plus facile aujourd’hui. Et \u00e0 chaque phase du projet, il est \u00e9galement essentiel de communiquer de mani\u00e8re transparente et ouverte et de donner \u00e0 la population la possibilit\u00e9 de se rendre sur place. Nous avons particuli\u00e8rement tenu compte de cet aspect et r\u00e9coltons aujourd’hui les fruits de notre travail: au total, quelque 600 personnes nous ont d\u00e9j\u00e0 rendu visite lors de r\u00e9unions d’information et de visites guid\u00e9es du site de forage, et les r\u00e9actions ont \u00e9t\u00e9 globalement positives. L’acceptation de la population et le soutien politique des communes de Lavey et de Saint-Maurice sont importants, et j’en suis fier.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
