Les services industriels jouent un r\u00f4le important dans la d\u00e9carbonisation des villes. Ronny Kaufmann explique dans cette interview pourquoi l’abandon du gaz fossile ne fait pas de mal aux services industriels et comment la g\u00e9othermie s’int\u00e8gre dans le futur syst\u00e8me \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique des villes. <\/strong>Le CEO de Swisspower critique \u00e9galement le rythme de d\u00e9veloppement trop lent des \u00e9nergies renouvelables.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ronny Kaufmann, Swisspower existe maintenant depuis plus de 20 ans. Quel est l\u2019engagement de Swisspower?
\n<\/strong>D’ici 2050, nos services industriels doivent produire de mani\u00e8re efficace et enti\u00e8rement renouvelable et ne plus \u00e9mettre de CO2. Parall\u00e8lement, nous devons veiller \u00e0 ce qu\u2019ils restent comp\u00e9titifs et s’engagent dans des coop\u00e9rations cibl\u00e9es pour un syst\u00e8me \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique global durable. Nous nous engageons pour cela et sommes convaincus que la transition \u00a0\u00e9nerg\u00e9tique n’est pas seulement souhaitable, mais aussi techniquement faisable et r\u00e9alisable sur le plan entrepreneurial.<\/p>\n

\nQu’avez-vous d\u00e9j\u00e0 r\u00e9alis\u00e9 sur ce chemin jusqu’en 2050?
\n<\/strong>Nous avons connu une croissance constante au cours des sept derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es et de plus en plus de choses convergent chez nous: installations communes de production d\u2019\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 renouvellable, fournittures et achats communs pour des gaz verts, gestion d\u2019innovation commune. Je pourrais encore \u00e9num\u00e9rer d\u2019autres th\u00e8mes qui nous permettent de renforcer la comp\u00e9titivit\u00e9 de nos services industriels. Si Swisspower n’existait pas, il faudrait l’inventer!<\/p>\n

De quoi \u00eates-vous particuli\u00e8rement fier?
\n<\/strong>Je voudrais souligner trois choses. Premi\u00e8rement, Swisspower est aujourd’hui une v\u00e9ritable plate-forme de coop\u00e9ration de services industriels progressistes qui mettent en \u0153uvre ensemble un approvisionnement \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique durable. L’ouverture r\u00e9cente de la premi\u00e8re installation industrielle de power-to-gas de Suisse \u00e0 Dietikon en est un bon exemple. Deuxi\u00e8mement, Swisspower est devenue une v\u00e9ritable force politique qui s’engage pour un avenir \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique renouvelable et qui est per\u00e7ue comme progressiste, innovante et cr\u00e9dible. Et troisi\u00e8mement, les services industriels ont reconnu les signes du temps bien avant Fukushima, ont mis en \u0153uvre des projets pour des villes durables et ont pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 le plan directeur de Swisspower pour un avenir \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique durable avant m\u00eame la votation sur la loi sur l’\u00e9nergie. C’est dans l’ADN des services industriels: il y a 100 ou 150 ans, ils \u00e9taient d\u00e9j\u00e0 des forces motrices pour une infrastructure moderne.<\/p>\n

Or, les services industriels ont beaucoup investi dans les r\u00e9seaux de gaz au cours des derni\u00e8res d\u00e9cennies. L’abandon prochain du gaz et le passage \u00e0 des sources de chaleur renouvelables ne devraient pas susciter que de l’enthousiasme.
\n<\/strong>Il s’agit de s’\u00e9loigner de toutes les sources d’\u00e9nergie fossiles, donc du gaz fossile, de l’essence, du diesel, du mazout. Cela ne signifie pas pour autant que les r\u00e9seaux ne pourront plus \u00eatre utilis\u00e9s \u00e0 l’avenir. Nous aurons encore besoin d’une partie des r\u00e9seaux actuels \u00e0 l’avenir pour le transport et le stockage des gaz verts. Et les services industriels ont d\u00e9j\u00e0 commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 r\u00e9duire progressivement la part des \u00e9nergies fossiles et \u00e0 injecter davantage de gaz renouvelable.<\/p>\n

Mais le potentiel des gaz non fossiles est limit\u00e9 et ne peut pas remplacer la totalit\u00e9 du gaz fossile?
\n<\/strong>Le potentiel des gaz verts est sous-estim\u00e9 ! Nous pouvons produire industriellement et \u00e0 grande \u00e9chelle de l’hydrog\u00e8ne et du biom\u00e9thane, par exemple, \u00e0 partir de l’\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 renouvelable exc\u00e9dentaire via des applications power-to-gas. En Suisse, le potentiel du power-to-gas est d’environ 5 \u00e0 10 TWh par an. Nous pouvons donc remplacer un bon tiers du gaz russe si cette technologie est vraiment d\u00e9velopp\u00e9e maintenant.<\/p>\n

Et qu’en est-il du reste de la production de chaleur fossile?
\n<\/strong>Il n’y a pas une solution parfaite, mais une combinaison de nombreuses bonnes approches. Nous devons nous d\u00e9faire de l’id\u00e9e que de grandes installations alimentent de grandes parties de la Suisse ou qu’une seule source d’\u00e9nergie r\u00e9sout nos probl\u00e8mes. Nous devons prendre en compte toutes les sources d’\u00e9nergie renouvelables et les utiliser localement, l\u00e0 o\u00f9 elles sont le plus efficaces. L’approche \u00abmulti-\u00e9nergies\u00bb, c’est-\u00e0-dire un syst\u00e8me \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique d\u00e9centralis\u00e9, est la bonne.<\/p>\n

\nQu’est-ce que cela signifie concr\u00e8tement pour les services industriels?
\n<\/strong>Nous tenons toujours compte de ce qui est r\u00e9alisable au niveau local – techniquement et politiquement. Dans les zones moins dens\u00e9ment peupl\u00e9es, ce sont plut\u00f4t des solutions \u00e9nerg\u00e9tiques d\u00e9centralis\u00e9es qui entrent en jeu. Dans les villes, en revanche, les r\u00e9seaux thermiques prennent de plus en plus d’importance. Les services industriels de Swisspower font leurs devoirs et misent sur les r\u00e9seaux thermiques. Nos services industriels d\u00e9tiennent aujourd’hui une part de march\u00e9 de plus de 50 pour cent dans le domaine du chauffage \u00e0 distance. Et les villes et les services industriels construisent ces r\u00e9seaux thermiques pour des centaines de millions de francs, sans aucune subvention f\u00e9d\u00e9rale. S’il y a donc quelque chose qui avance dans le tournant \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique, ce sont bien les r\u00e9seaux thermiques.<\/p>\n

Et o\u00f9 est-ce que \u00e7a n’avance pas assez?
\n<\/strong>Le passage \u00e0 l’\u00e9lectromobilit\u00e9, l’assainissement des b\u00e2timents et l’augmentation des capacit\u00e9s de production d’\u00e9nergie renouvelable avancent beaucoup trop lentement. L\u00e0, je pense surtout \u00e0 la g\u00e9othermie, mais pas seulement. O\u00f9, \u00e0 part \u00e0 Riehen, une installation g\u00e9othermique de taille similaire produit-elle aujourd’hui de la chaleur pour un r\u00e9seau de chauffage \u00e0 distance?<\/p>\n

Nulle part.
\n<\/strong>Justement! Et ce n’est pas acceptable. G\u00e9othermie-Suisse parle elle-m\u00eame d’un potentiel de 17 TWh par an. O\u00f9 sont ces t\u00e9rawattheures? Nous devons enfin donner une vraie chance \u00e0 la g\u00e9othermie.<\/p>\n

Qu’entendez-vous par \u00abnous\u00bb? Les villes et les services industriels?
\n<\/strong>Les villes et les services industriels ne peuvent pas supporter les risques \u00e0 eux seuls. Ceux-ci sont aujourd’hui tr\u00e8s \u00e9lev\u00e9s pour un investisseur dans le cas de la g\u00e9othermie, car il ne sait vraiment qu’apr\u00e8s de longs forages s’il pourra produire suffisamment de chaleur \u00e0 cet endroit. D’autres technologies, comme par exemple les centrales \u00e0 bois, pr\u00e9sentent des risques beaucoup plus faibles. Mais nous passons ainsi \u00e0 c\u00f4t\u00e9 d’opportunit\u00e9s pour la g\u00e9othermie. Les sources d’\u00e9nergie li\u00e9es au site doivent \u00eatre utilis\u00e9es sur place. Nous devons exploiter le potentiel de la g\u00e9othermie maintenant, pas dans un futur lointain.<\/p>\n

Pourquoi cela ne se fait pas?
\n<\/strong>Nous devons encore mieux expliquer \u00e0 la population suisse comment fonctionne la g\u00e9othermie et quels sont les chances et les risques de cette technologie. Jusqu’\u00e0 pr\u00e9sent, nous ne sommes pas encore parvenus \u00e0 expliquer qu’il ne s’agit plus en premier lieu de forer des trous de 5’000 m\u00e8tres de profondeur pour produire de l’\u00e9lectricit\u00e9, mais de forer des puits beaucoup moins profonds pour produire de la chaleur, avec un risque de tremblement de terre pratiquement nul.<\/p>\n

\nDans quelle mesure les services industriels peuvent-ils aider \u00e0 positionner la g\u00e9othermie dans ce contexte?
\n<\/strong>Les services industriels vont de l’avant avec des projets concrets de g\u00e9othermie. Gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 de tels projets, nous pouvons montrer \u00e0 la population suisse que la g\u00e9othermie peut contribuer de mani\u00e8re significative \u00e0 la production de chaleur renouvelable. Je souhaiterais que les autres acteurs importants du secteur de l’\u00e9nergie reconnaissent \u00e9galement la g\u00e9othermie comme une contribution importante \u00e0 l’approvisionnement durable en \u00e9nergie. La g\u00e9othermie doit \u00eatre mentionn\u00e9e au m\u00eame titre que le soleil, le vent, l’eau. Il faut plus de voix, plus d’histoires, plus d’\u00e9motions positives sur la g\u00e9othermie.<\/p>\n

Pour conclure, du point de vue de Swisspower : nous nous \u00e9loignons plus rapidement du gaz fossile parce que… ?
\n<\/strong>Par ce que les clients ne veulent effectivement plus de gaz fossiles. Avant, ils ne le voulaient plus pour pr\u00e9server le climat. Depuis l\u2019attaque de Putin en Ukraine, ils en veulent encore moins. En Suisse, nous sommes en train de prendre conscience qu’un approvisionnement \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique s\u00fbr et durable ne va pas de soi. Le Parlement f\u00e9d\u00e9ral discute actuellement des futures conditions-cadres dans le domaine de l’\u00e9nergie. Nous devons saisir cette occasion pour apporter le soutien n\u00e9cessaire \u00e0 la g\u00e9othermie.<\/p>\n
