Depuis 2000, la production de chaleur issue de la g\u00e9othermie a plus que tripl\u00e9. En termes de g\u00e9othermie proche de la surface terrestre, la Suisse fait m\u00eame partie de l\u2019\u00e9lite mondiale.<\/strong><!--more--><strong>Il est ainsi possible, de mani\u00e8re rentable, de chauffer et de refroidir des maisons, des quartiers et des exploitations industrielles au moyen de la g\u00e9othermie, v\u00e9ritable clef d\u2019un approvisionnement \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique respectueux de l\u2019environnement.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Quand on parle de g\u00e9othermie, la plupart des gens pensent \u00e0 B\u00e2le et \u00e0 St-Gall et aux l\u00e9gers tremblements de terre qui s\u2019y sont produit en 2006 et 2013. Pourtant, la g\u00e9othermie est bien plus que cela. La g\u00e9othermie est une histoire \u00e0 succ\u00e8s.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Des recherches \u00e0 haute pression<br \/>\n<\/strong>Il convient de distinguer entre g\u00e9othermie de faible, de moyenne et de grande profondeur. Avec certes derni\u00e8re, on proc\u00e8de \u00e0 des forages jusqu\u2019\u00e0 quatre ou cinq kilom\u00e8tres de profondeur, afin d\u2019exploiter la chaleur y r\u00e9gnant pour chauffer ou produire de l\u2019\u00e9lectricit\u00e9, comme cela a \u00e9t\u00e9 le cas \u00e0 B\u00e2le et St-Gall. La technologie requise est certes connue, mais pas exp\u00e9riment\u00e9e \u00e0 grande \u00e9chelle. En Suisse, une cinquantaine de scientifiques de l\u2019EPF et d\u2019universit\u00e9s les plus diverses travaillent \u00e0 faire avancer rapidement cette technologie.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Chauffer et refroidir des maisons et des quartiers<br \/>\n<\/strong>La g\u00e9othermie de moyenne profondeur est tout autre. Gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 une technologie \u00e9prouv\u00e9e depuis des d\u00e9cennies, on proc\u00e8de \u00e0 des forages pour pomper de l\u2019eau \u00e0 des profondeurs de 500 \u00e0 2000 m\u00e8tres, afin de chauffer ou de refroidir des b\u00e2timents, des serres, des bains thermaux, des exploitations industrielles et artisanales, voire m\u00eame des quartiers entiers. Des usines peuvent aussi \u00eatre approvisionn\u00e9es en chaleur industrielle. \u00c0 Riehen (BS), la g\u00e9othermie approvisionne un r\u00e9seau de chaleur \u00e0 distance, et son extension est projet\u00e9e. Il\u00a0existe d\u2019autres installations r\u00e9ussies \u00e0 Kreuzlingen (TG), Schlattingen (TG), Kloten (ZH), Bassersorf (ZH), Zurzach (AG), Davos (GR), Saillon (VS), Lavey-les-Bains (VD), Yverdon-les-Bains (VD) et Gen\u00e8ve.<\/p>\n<p>Comme l\u2019affirme Willy Gehrer, pr\u00e9sident de G\u00e9othermie-Suisse et de l\u2019Acad\u00e9mie suisse des sciences techniques (SATW), \u00able potentiel de la g\u00e9othermie de moyenne profondeur est encore loin d\u2019\u00eatre \u00e9puis\u00e9! Je suis convaincu que le soutien financier de la Conf\u00e9d\u00e9ration permettra encore un boom correspondant ces prochaines ann\u00e9es. D\u2019ailleurs, cela se dessine d\u00e9j\u00e0 aujourd\u2019hui\u00bb. En effet, comme le confirme Nicole Lupi, responsable de la promotion de la g\u00e9othermie \u00e0 l\u2019Office f\u00e9d\u00e9ral de l\u2019\u00e9nergie (OFEN), \u00ables contributions pour l\u2019utilisation directe de la g\u00e9othermie pour la production de chaleur connaissent un vif int\u00e9r\u00eat depuis leur entr\u00e9e en vigueur le 1<sup>er<\/sup> janvier 2018\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00c9lite mondiale en termes de g\u00e9othermie de faible profondeur<br \/>\n<\/strong>Enfin, en ce qui concerne la g\u00e9othermie de faible profondeur, la Suisse fait m\u00eame partie de l\u2019\u00e9lite mondiale. Ce type de g\u00e9othermie, proche de la surface terrestre, va jusqu\u2019\u00e0 environ 500\u00a0m de profondeur. La chaleur qui s\u2019y trouve permet de chauffer et de refroidir des maisons individuelles et des immeubles locatifs, des h\u00f4tels, des bureaux ou encore des exploitations artisanales et industrielles. En Suisse, on utilise surtout des sondes g\u00e9othermiques.<\/p>\n<p>L\u2019application est extr\u00eamement diversifi\u00e9e. M\u00eame les terminaux d\u2019a\u00e9roport en font usage (dock E de l\u2019a\u00e9roport de Zurich-Kloten), de m\u00eame que des routes peuvent \u00eatre d\u00e9givr\u00e9es avec la chaleur d\u2019origine g\u00e9othermique. Pour leur part, les CFF exp\u00e9rimentent des chauffages d\u2019aiguillages avec cette chaleur.<\/p>\n<p><strong>G\u00e9othermie = protection du climat<br \/>\n<\/strong>Pour abaisser les \u00e9missions de CO<sub>2 <\/sub>de b\u00e2timents, des particuliers ainsi que des villes et des communes misent sur la g\u00e9othermie, comme le prouvent les statistiques. De 2000 \u00e0 2017, la production de chaleur issue de la g\u00e9othermie s\u2019est ainsi accrue de 348 pourcent en Suisse, passant ainsi de 1186 \u00e0 4130 gigawattheures (GWh). La production de chaleur provenant de sondes g\u00e9othermiques a m\u00eame progress\u00e9 de 485 pourcent. Avec ces 4130 GWh, la Suisse a \u00e9conomis\u00e9 1&rsquo;065&rsquo;000 tonnes d\u2019\u00e9missions de CO<sub>2<\/sub>.
