2016 Edition of the European Geothermal Congress (EGC)

A unique opportunity for the entire geothermal community to come together and to learn, finding new ways to progress.
Organised every 3 years, EGC is the largest geothermal event in Europe.
It is a week of varied events designed to appeal and support and develop everyone working in the field, both in and outside the continent.
It will include:
- A Conference programme with both oral and poster presentations;
- Contributions from local, European, and Global leaders;
- Sessions covering science and research, education, policy, financing, and communication;
- A large industry exhibition;
- Specialised sessions on business development;
- Training courses;
- Site visits to geothermal projects (incl. EGS) in the region;
- Networking events;
- Side conferences for European projects
- and much more!
EGC is organised by the sector, for the sector. The purpose is to demonstrate the strength of European geothermal and to foster its continued growth.
The congress is not one single event, but a series. Hosting a combination of events for different stakeholders creates a unique opportunity for those working in different aspects of geothermal, whether academic, industrial or societal, to come together.The congress is organised by the European Geothermal Energy Council (EGEC, copyright n°1284839), which is the trade association for geothermal in Europe. The goal of the organisation is primarily to promote its members’ interests and promote geothermal in Europe. EGEC took over management of the congress in 2013
What makes the conference unique is both its diversity- it provides a varied public with a range of different events, and its size- it is the largest geothermal event in Europe.
The congress continues the series of European geothermal events under the IGA (International Geothermal Association) umbrella, the most recent of which have been EGC2013 in Pisa, Italy EGC 2007 in Unterhaching (Munich), Germany, EGC 2003 in Szeged, Hungary, and EGC 1999 in Basel, Switzerland.
